Isuzu 300 4×4

A long way from home

Spotted this amazing custom Isuzu 300 at a small campground in Ocala last year. Turned out to be a lovely couple from New Zealand making their way up from Florida to Arizona who were attending Overland Expo West.  We chatted for a couple hours and I can honestly say this was by far the coolest rig I’ve had the pleasure of touring. Owners Bob and Anne are based out of Australia but like to travel around the world. Their rig was designed to fit inside a shipping container to make it easier to transport. The custom pop up roof was designed and built by the owner to give them plenty of head room inside. Although I didn’t get any shots of the interior, it had everything 2 people could possibly need for life on the road including a toilet, shower, solar, water collection and filtration system…yes water collection system! He designed a type of gutter to funnel rain water into his water tanks, genius! It was so well thought out and even better, entirely custom made by the owner and his mates in their spare time…what a true charactor and master tinkerer!
